ThermoDust workshop at RIPT 2026
The ThermoDust consortium was pleased to participate in the RIPT 2026 conference in Aachen, Germany - an important biennial event focused on advanced processing for surface modification and additive manufacturing.
As part of the programme, the consortium organised a dedicated workshop on Thursday afternoon, highlighting key developments from the first three years of the project. The session featured a keynote from Trinity College Dublin on the exfoliation and synthesis of 2D metal matrix composites, followed by contributions from project partners covering plasma-assisted synthesis (Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia), powder preparation and cold spray additive processing, molecular dynamics insights into thermal conductivity, and laser powder bed fusion of graphene-reinforced copper composites. The workshop attracted strong interest from the wider conference audience, reflecting the relevance and impact of the research being developed within ThermoDust.
We are also pleased to acknowledge the award of 2nd Best Poster Prize to Fatemeh zarei from Politecnico di Milano, a further recognition of the quality of work within the consortium.
Overall, the event marked a very positive milestone for the project and its collaboration activities.
